This weekend I had a metal clunking sound coming from the front drivers side. What else could be causing the sound - is he missing something important? This sound happens about 50% of the time on turns. Rubicon Owners Forum > TJ Rubicon > TJ Drivetrain and Horsepower > loud clunking noise when small bumps and any road imperfection. i replaced the shocks but it was still making that noise when i go over bumps, also when i go over bumps it pulls the car to the left a little bit. Since then, rattling clunking sounds in the front end, almost sound like I'm driving a tank (to me). Also it seems to have very little rebound damping. I can hear it especially when the suspension flexes like over a speed bump or the bump i go over to get into driveway Any clues or suggestions Thanks. now if i turn under a litte bit of power and say hit a bump or 2 theres some sliping and when i hit the bumps a loud banging, metal on metal sound. could it be an engine mount gone bad? is it most likely the torsion bar area? i thought the torsion bars twisted so i guess i just dont know why they would make the sound when i hit a bump?. Anyone have a solution. This weekend I had a metal clunking sound coming from the front drivers side. It's perfectly normal. But, a clunking ball joint can potentially be very dangerous so you should get this fixed very soon. So, I replaced those first no luck. There is a thump, rattle sound from the front. It took me a little while to find a noise like the one you describe. I've had the car inspected up on a lift. A number of owner's have reported this sound particularly on the W211 chassis.
